KCK Location

Our KCK Location is a special partnership with the Wyandotte County Head Start Grant established November 11, 2019.

Open Minds – KCK is conveniently located near the newly developing Strawberry Hill KU hospital campus. Our location has quick access to I-70 for parents who have to commute a long distance to work and also located close to a variety of local businesses, parks, school and downtown re-development. Our address is 1100 State Ave. Kansas City, KS 66061 on the campus of The School for the Blind.

Open Minds will be operating in the Johnson Building on the campus of The School for the Blind. We will have access to 3,376 Square Feet of classroom space and additional amenities such as outdoor playground, gymnasium, track & field, and swimming pool. The School for the Blind has invited us onto the campus in an effort to establish true community synergy. Owners Abdul and Alicia Yahaya have the unique opportunity to create a place that meets the needs of the students ages 0 to 5 years old and their families and allows for the the staff to have an environment that fosters a love for learning. The KCK Center is licensed by the State of Kansas with a capacity to serve 56 students. Schedule a tour today!

Scholarship opportunities may be available at our KCK Location

Your family may qualify if you have a child under the age of two; live in Johnson or Wyandotte counties in Kansas; and are income eligible, homeless, receive TANF/ SSI, or your child is in foster care.

Open Minds is a proud partner with the Wyandotte County Head Start Grant! Through the Family Conservancy‘s family of programming using high-impact, research-based approaches to create brighter futures for Kansas City. They focused on supporting families, teachers and child care providers in their work to prepare young children for success in school and life.
