Children ages 3 to 5 years old, can enroll in one of our preschool classrooms.
Our preschool classrooms are set up as mixed aged groups, meaning that each classroom has a mix of children who are 3, 4, or 5 years old.
Similar to a family of siblings, mixed age groups allow younger students to learn from their older peers; and older students to master their knowledge by “teaching” their younger peers. Instead of a curriculum that is one size fits all, teachers give each child what they need, when they need it and plan their curriculum based on the needs of the individual child.
At this age our teacher lead and student directed activities include hands on math, language and literacy, creative arts, and an opportunity to explore and problem solve on their own. Preschool students will also have opportunities to explore science, technology, handwriting without tears, lifetime sports, Spanish, and Second Steps (a social/emotional curriculum) as added specials throughout each month.
Teachers send out daily emails, detailing the activities of the day and skills that were worked on. Pictures are also included in the email so that parents can see their little one during their work day. Parents and teachers will discuss each child’s development during parent teacher conferences held in the fall and spring. Families will have the opportunity to attend participate in mystery readers and community helpers in their child’s classroom. Additional programs such as trunk or treat, thanksgiving luncheon, a spelling bee, and a holiday program, will be held throughout the year.
